Nicola Brown Therapy

Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Well-being Practitioner

About Nicola Brown Therapy

As a CAMH and well-being Practitioner I offer therapy for children and young people who are struggling with their emotions or mental health.  It is not always easy for children and young people to talk about their mental health or things that may be worrying them, I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment where they feel able to explore the difficulties they are experiencing.

About me

I have a BSc (Hons) degree in Child and Adolescent Mental Health and CPCAB counselling qualifications.  I worked in Education for many years in Safeguarding, student welfare and counselling roles before moving on to start my own private practice.  I have worked with children and young people experiencing a wide range of mental health and emotional difficulties. I have DBS clearance and I am fully insured. I am also a member of the Association of Child and Adolescent Mental Health.

Childen & Young People

I work therapeutically with children and young people from the age of 8-18. I use a range of techniques including art and craft, specific activities, and counselling. Additionally, when appropriate, I will use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques. Some examples of things I can help with are:

Parents

It can be hard to know what may be normal childhood/adolescent behaviour or something that may develop into a problem or mental health difficulty. I am happy to book one off sessions for you to come and discuss your concerns. I am also able to work on a 1:1 basis with parents experiencing difficulties with their child. This may be to help through diagnostic processes, which can be upsetting and difficult or purely as counselling sessions to support emotional well-being. Additionally I can see parents who are going through separation/divorce in order to advise and guide on how to ensure your child (or children) stays mentally well throughout the process.
